About

Martina Zadro is a leading Croatian and Slovene soprano of the younger generation, winner of the “Lucia Popp” (Slovakia) and “Antonin Dvořák” (Czech Republic) international vocal competitions. She was the last student of the legendary Anna Moffo.
Zadro has achieved great international success in the role of Armgard, singing on the opening night of the rediscovered (Boosey and Hawkes) first Offenbach opera “Die Rheinnixen” in the Slovene National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ljubljana. Her other remarkable international successes have been Mimí in the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo; the role of the Countess in the Salzburg Landestheatre, and Violetta in the Teatro Municipal in Santiago. She is also a permanent guest at the Národní divadlo in Prague, and guest at the festivals of the Prague Summer and Dvořákova Praha, cooperating with today’s best conductors: Yves Abel, Massimo Zanetti, Milan Horvat, Serge Baudo, Dieter Rossberg, Ilan Volkov, Aleksandar Rahbari, Loris Voltolini and Peter Feranec. The contemporary Croatian composer Srećko Bradić composed his first opera specifically for Martina Zadro: “Crux dissimulata”, which received outstanding reviews. Zadro played the main role of Roza which requires huge vocal and dramatic talent. Zadro sang it at its premiere on the opening night of the 25th Musical Biennale Zagreb, and received great recognition from audience and critics alike. For this role, Zadro won the Award of the Croatian Theatres in 2009 for the best role in opera. She graduated from the Zagreb Music Academy in the class of Professor Snježana Bujanović-Stanislav and completed her postgraduate studies at the same Academy under Professor Bujanović-Stanislav. She also graduated in Lied and Oratorium from the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Graz, in the class of Professor Gerhard Zeller. She did more vocal training with the great Slovak teacher Eva Blahová, with Vitomir Marof, one of the leading singers in the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre, and with the opera legend Anna Moffo in New York.

She has been perfecting her drama skills through Method Acting with Janez and Andrej Vajevec and with her husband, actor Zvonko Novosel.

Zadro has been collaborating with many distinguished opera directors: Lutz Hochstraate, Manfred Schweigkofler, Emilio Sagi, Arnaud Bernard, Charles Roubod, Jean Louis Grinda, Caterina Panti Liberovici, Vito Taufer, Krešimir Dolenčić and others.

Since the 2003/2004 season, Martina Zadro has been a member of the Ljubljana Opera House (Opera Slovenskog narodnog gledališča – SNG) where she sings leading roles. Her opera debut was in 1995 at the Croatian National Theatre where she has since sung many parts.

She achieved tremendous success at the Longborough Festival Opera in England in 2008 as Violetta under the conductor Gianluca Marcianò.

Zadro has collaborated on numerous projects with many outstanding conductors: Tomaš Netopil, Elio Boncompagni, Vjekoslav Šutej, David de Villiers, Uroš Lajovic, Marko Gašperšič, Jan Chalupecký and Johannes Wildner.

As a concert singer, Martina Zadro has performed with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and Television and with the Slovene Philharmonic.

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

…or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickeys to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.
